Balkan Sustainable Development Institute – BSDI is an independent institute for research and development of Sustainable Development (SD) policies, a platform for stakeholder dialogue with a focus on Balkan countries.
BSDI develops tools for introducing and improving sustainable development in the Balkan, European and international relations of public and private institutions and authorities.
Underlying the Institute’s activities are: climate, biodiversity and ecosystems, environment, energy and SD governance.

The BSDI’s mission is to support all Balkan stakeholders in their efforts to integrate the principles of sustainable development and the implementation of Plan 2030 so as to improve their financial, social and environmental performances and achievements.
BSDI builds and maintains a network of members and partnerships with leading European and global institutions, governmental and non-governmental organizations, academic structures, research and information centers, business representatives and others active in the field of the SD.
BSDI develops analyzes, research programs and projects in accordance with the best world practices, independently or jointly with Bulgarian and foreign partners. The Institute develops public and information activities aiming at the dissemination of policies and methods to improve governance in the area of the SD. BSDI also organizes forums to promote good practice and to discuss topical issues related to the UR.
BSDI is the only structure in the region that unites the efforts of all stakeholders in the Balkan countries to meet the objectives of Plan 2030 through cooperation with leading world experts and organizations.
